Pongal 

        1. Pongal is a celebration to thank the Sun, Mother Nature and the various farm animals that help to contribute to a beautiful harvest.


       2. Celebrated over four days, Pongal also marks the beginning of the Tamil month called Thai, which is considered an auspicious month.

      3. Pongal is a four-day long festival celebrated with great enthusiasm.

      4. Bhogi Pongal, Thai Pongal also known as Surya Pongal, Mattu Pongal and Kaanum Pongal are the four festive days.

      5. The sugarcane represents the sweetness of her mind.

      6.  It is also believed that Lord Shiva fed sugarcane to a carved stone sculpture of an elephant at the Madurai Meenakshi Temple on Pongal day.

         7. The first day of Pongal is called Bhogi and is celebrated in honor of Lord Indra.

         8. Pongal is a religious, cultural, and social festival hosted as a thanks giving to the Sun god and the elements of nature for supporting agriculture.

         9. KummiKummi is one of the most popular dances that are performed on the occasion of Pongal. It is also one of the most ancient dances of Tamil Nadu.

      10. Pongal is known by various names in different states of India aside from Thai or Ven Pongal. It is also called Bhogali Bihu, lohri, Bhogi, Makar Sankranti.

      11. Bhogi Pongal (January 14, 2023) Saturday  is the first day of the Pongal and dedicated to Lord of the rain Indra.

       12. Thai Pongal (January 15, 2023) Sunday also called Surya Pongal or Perum Pongal. It is the second and main Pongal festive day. This day is dedicated to Lord Surya.

       13. Mattu Pongal (January 16, 2023) Monday is the 3rd day of pongal and dedicated to the worship of cows.

       14. Kaanum Pongal (January 17, 2023) Tuesday is the fourth and last day of the Pongal.

      15. Always we give respect all living things and save nature to live happilly. We get this moral from this festival.
